Real life, sadly......

Has intruded on my plans!!!! A busy couple of weeks, one busy weekend, and LOTS of rainy days mean that the only thing I've been able to do to my finds of a few weeks ago is spray paint the white wire thingy black. Hopefully I will be able to get some more done this weekend!

Some of the things I found this week...

Here are a few things I lucked up on this week:

I know - doesn't look like much now, does it? But I have big plans for this little plastic thingie. I'm not sure what it really is - my best guess is some kind of store display (although I could be TOTALLY wrong). But I have lots of Halloween deliciousness planned for it!

These were my vintage steals for three bucks each. I'm not sure what era they are really from; I was thinking 60's, but they could actually be much newer than that. In any case, I like 'em! I thought they would be super cute on the back patio as planters.

And finally, my thrift store find - it had been at the store since late August, so it was 25% off!! Woohoo! And again, only vintage in the slightest sense of the word, but it has such potential. I looked at, walked away, came back, walked away again, and finally called big sis and described it to her (I can always count on her to help me make up my mind). I have been seeing a lot of big floor mirrors lately on decorating blogs and in magazines, and since I heart mirrors anyway (especially beveled ones - yum-o), this one just grabbed me. A little paint, a little distressing, and it is going to be fabulous! (of course, don't have a clue where I will put it, but that's just a minor detail!!)

P.S. please ignore the cluttered bookshelf behind the mirror. Sigh, I know. Clutter is the enemy!

New Day, New Junk, New Blog!

I have been in more of a junking mood this past week than I have in a while. I contribute that to a book I read last week on the way out of town, which was about a Savannah "picker" for antique dealers. It was a fun mystery, but also full of great antiques and junk and estate sale goodness! So the first thing I did Monday when we got back in town was hit the thrift stores around town. Unfortunately, my favorite one was closed (probably because it was Labor Day), but I still managed to find a few good things!

I've also been inspired lately to junk, because of some great blogs I stumbled across. I never realized what goodies were out there in blogland! All of the ones I have had before (and read) were family blogs. Somewhere along the way, I clicked on a link for a decorating blog, and a whole new world opened up. There are other people out there, just like me! Who love junk! And vintage finds! And garage sales and flea markets and junk stores and thrift stores and...well, you get the idea. I have especially enjoyed seeing the befores and afters. So, I thought I would try my hand at the same. At the very least, it will be a great way for me to document all of the great finds I run across, as well as maybe push me to actually do something with those same great finds, instead of shoving them in closets or the garage.

All week, I looked forward to getting up and getting out this morning to find some goodies. And boy, did I! I will post pictures soon.
